How Do I...?Find Books…?To locate books that Dacus Library owns, the Dacus Online Catalog (DOC) is the first resource you should use. You can search the catalog using author, title, subject or keyword. Along with books, DOC can also be used to find ebooks and audio visual materials. Remember, while you can look up journal titles to see if Dacus Library owns specific journals, you CANNOT search for articles through DOC. For information on how to search for articles, please see the How Do I Find Articles...? section.. If you do not find the item you want through DOC, there are other options. First, you may call, email, or go to the Reference Desk for assistance. Second, if we do not own the item you need, you can use the WorldCat database to determine if other libraries own the item and then you can place an Interlibrary Loan order. Be aware that when you order books through Interlibrary Loan it can take up to 10 days to receive the materials. Find Articles…?To locate articles you should first access the Database listing page. There you can select from an alphabetical list of all databases to which Dacus Library subscribes or go to the Databases by Subject page which gives you the most appropriate databases for subject areas. From either place you then select an individual database to search. Many of our databases do provide links to full text articles in either PDF or html format. If you do not see a link for full text, you can click the Webridge link to find out if the article is available in full text in any of our other databases. If we do not have access to an online full text version, you may then click the “Search Dacus Online Catalog (DOC) link which will tell you if Dacus Library owns the journal your article is in. Finally, if Dacus Library does not have access to the article you need, remember to call, email, or go to the Reference Desk for assistance. You can also place an Interlibrary Loan order for the article. Remember, it can take up to 6 days for the library to receive articles ordered through Interlibrary Loan Print and make photocopies…?Photocopiers, microform reader-printers, and a computer print station are provided for our patrons' convenience. Cost for black and white copies or printouts is 10 cents per page or microform frame. Color printouts are available at the computer print station for 20 cents per page. (Two-sided printing or copying counts as two pages.) Copiers are debit card operated rather than coin-operated. Winthrop I.D. cards may be encoded at the Circulation Desk and used as debit cards; copy cards may also be purchased for 50¢. Patrons may charge amounts of $5.00 or more to their University accounts. Lesser amounts must be paid in cash. Cite Resources…?There are many different types of citation manuals available. Dacus Library keeps copies of the APA, MLA, Chicago, and Turabian guides at the Reference Desk. Quick guides for the MLA and APA styles are available online at the links below. MLA Citation Guide Access my Winthrop email…?In order to check your email when using the library computers, you must go to the Student Email Web Access page and login to your account. Library computers are not connected to the ACC domain, which is why you must map your z-drive, login into your email account via web access and cannot use your print quota in the library. Access my z-drive in the library…?In order to access your z-drive from a computer station in the library, you must map the computer to your z-drive. There is a PowerPoint file on all public terminals and laptops with step by step screen shots of the process. The Powerpoint file is also available via the link below.
