EBSCO Animals Available only to Winthrop Community collegiate discus

EBSCO's Encyclopedia of Animals offers in-depth information on a variety of topics relating to animals. The database consists of indexing, abstracts, and full text records describing the nature and habitat of familiar animals. Within some of the full text, image links are available for the Windows client. Images are accessed by double-clicking any image graphic.

EBSCOhost is a powerful online reference system accessible via the Internet. It offers a variety of proprietary full text databases and popular databases from leading information providers.

The comprehensive databases range from general reference collections to specially designed, subject-specific databases for public, academic, medical, corporate and school libraries.


EconLit Available only to Winthrop Community

Subject indexing and abstracts of journals and over 500 collective volumes per year, plus books, dissertations, and working papers. Published by the American Economic Association.

Educator's Reference Complete Available only to Winthrop Community discus small

This collection of more than 1,100 periodicals and 200 reports is a resource for any educator -- from the school teacher and administrator to those studying in the field at the collegiate and graduate level. It provides full-text results for nearly half of the journal titles found in ERIC. This database covers multiple levels of education from preschool to college, and every educational specialty -- such as technology, bilingual education, health education, and testing. The Encyclopedia Americana Online is published by Grolier Publishing Company, a division of Grolier Inc., from the Encyclopedia Americana database. Its 45,000 articles and more than 25 million words have been contributed by over 6,500 specialists in their respective disciplines and cover all academic fields and curriculum topics. Updated quarterly, the Americana Online can now be used either as a stand-alone source of current information on almost any topic or as a guide to the resources of the World Wide Web (Provided by DISCUS)

ERIC (EbscoHost) Available only to Winthrop Community collegiate discus

ERIC, the Educational Resource Information Center, provides access to education literature and resources. The database provides access to information from journals included in the Current Index of Journals in Education and Resources in Education Index. ERIC provides full text of more than 2,200 digests along with references for additional information and citations and abstracts from over 1,000 educational and education-related journals. ERIC documents since October 2002 ("ED" numbers) are available in PDF format at GPO Access.

The FactSearch Database is a guide to statistical statements on current social, economic, political, environmental and health issues, derived from some newspapers, periodicals, newsletter and documents such as the Christian Science Monitor, the Congressional Record, Congressional hearings, Daily Press Briefings of the White House, State Department and Department of Defense, and Australian, British and Canadian Parliamentary Debates. Web links to free full text are included frequently. FactSearch is the FirstSearch implementation of the A Matter of Fact database produced by Pierian Press, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
