Faculty Library Privileges

General Collection Materials:

Winthrop faculty members may check out general collection materials for a period of one semester.  Though faculty do not incur daily overdue fines, materials 50 or more days overdue will be declared lost, and the borrower's university account will be charged the cost of replacement plus a ten dollar processing fee.

Reference Materials:

Faculty may check out reference materials only with the permission of the reference librarian.  The loan period for these items is 24 hours.

Journals:

Faculty may check out bound or current periodicals for 24 hours.  Longer loan periods must be approved by the Head of Public Services or the Head of Reference.

Identification:

In order to protect accounts, all faculty must present a valid photo ID (preferably a Winthrop ID) to check out materials.  Materials may also be checked out to faculty based on visual identification by library staff.

Faculty who wish to allow graduate or other student assistants to check out materials in their stead should contact the Circulation Department before sending the student to the library, or set up a proxy account for that student.  For more information on proxy accounts, please contact the Circulation Department.
