| December's exhibit, titled Christmas in the 19th century, consists of excerpts from 19th century diaries and letters illustrating how Christmas was celebrated at the time, books, children's stories, photographs and articles. There is information about how Winthrop celebrated the holidays in the late 1890s. Transcriptions of the diaries and letters have been included in the exhibit for easier reading but you may want to try to read the 19th century writing yourself before looking at the transcription. You will find it easier than you think. The exhibit will be on display during library hours through January 4, 2007. |
