December 2007/January 2008 - Winthrop's Winter Wonderland
Snowball Fight Outside of Main Building - ca 1898 |
Students Going to Class in Snowstorm - 1960s |
Before the rise of the commuter student in the 1970s and 1980s, Winthrop students were required to attend classes despite weather conditions. The first instance of classes being cancelled due to snow and/or ice was in 1980. The December/January’s exhibit, titled Winthrop's Winter Wonderland, pays homage to these times and consists of images of Winthrop Campus covered in snow and of Winthrop students and Faculty braving the elements to pursue their academic endeavors (and sometimes to partake in illicit snowball fights). The exhibit will be on display during library hours through January 2008.
