Rebecca M. Sanderson retired from Rock Hill Schools after serving 25 years as an elementary music specialist and 20 years as a director of the Elementary Honors Choir of Rock Hill Schools.  This choir participated in the Winthrop University Festival of Carols for many years, sang with the York County Choral Society in 2009, and performed John Rutter’s Mass of the Children with the Winthrop University Collegiate Chorale in 2010.  Mrs. Sanderson currently serves as the director of the Young Musicians Choir at Oakland Baptist Church in Rock Hill.     

Mrs. Sanderson holds both the B. M. E. and M. M. degrees from Winthrop University as well as a Specialist’s Certificate in Music Education (Choral). In 2002 Mrs. Sanderson received her National Board Certification in Music/Early and Middle Childhood.  A member of NAfME, SCMEA, AOSA, and ACDA, she has completed certifications for Levels I, II, and III in Orff-Schulwerk and Level I of the Choral Music Experience. For six years she served on the faculty for Summer ST-Arts, a program for artistically talented middle school students, and has also served as an adjudicator for Carowinds Choral Festivals.  She is the composer of Follow That Star!, a Christmas musical for children's voices, which was published by Abingdon Press in April 2003.  In 2011 she served as director/clinician of the first Elementary All-State Choir sponsored by the South Carolina chapter of ACDA.
