Beatty is in his fourth year at Winthrop and is the coordinator for Interior Design Program. He is a licensed professional architect and a member of the Interior Design Educators Council. His architectural professional practice has included historic renovation, commercial and health care design, and residential design. His areas of interest and research include sustainable and alternative design, computer applications in the design process, and the history of architecture. Beatty was the recipient of the Alabama Council, AIA, Excellence in Building Design Award, an the Birmingham Chapter, AIA, Annual Design Award, for the Harris Building historic renovations.
