Ulaky, originally from Pittsburgh, Pa., has been on the faculty at Winthrop since 1976. She also has been principal oboist with the Charlotte Symphony since 1974. Before holding these positions, Ulaky was principal oboist with the Opera '68 Festival in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the Wheeling Symphony in West Virginia from 1970-1974. She has performed chamber music at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa., at the New College Music Festival in Sarasota, Fla., the Charles Ives Center for the Performing Arts in Danbury, Conn., and the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, S.C.

A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, Ulaky has worked with renowned oboists Robert Bloom, Ray Still, John Mack, Richard Woodhams, and Joseph Robinson.  She is co-founder of the chamber music group RHODORA. She has performed recitals at the IDRS Conference in Greensboro, N.C., with organist Len Langrick and at the University of Denver with faculty members Pamela Endsley and Kevin Kennedy sponsored by the Yamaha Corporation of America.

Ulaky was a member of the Charlotte Symphony Board of Directors for seven years and Cannon Music Camp at Appalachian State University for five years. She is a Yamaha performing artist.
