Yost arrived in Rock Hill in 1990 and immediately began work as a middle school band Director in Charlotte, N.C., and she currently teaches middle school band at Saint Anne School in Rock Hill. In addition to her teaching at Winthrop, she has worked as a professional musician on bassoon and low reeds, playing for touring Broadway shows, Opera Carolina, Charlotte Symphony, Charlotte Philharmonic, Union Symphony, area churches, and many other venues. 

She is married to Mark Yost, band director at Northwestern High School, and has three children: Elizabeth, Andrew, and Olivia.

Yost's professional triumphs include orchestra tours of Europe and Australia; working as hired musician for Harry Connick Jr, Ray Charles, Renee Fleming, Denise Graves, and all of Opera Carolina’s 2009-2010 season.  She has served as musician on Producers, Chorus Line, Kiss Me Kate, and South Pacific (both recent revivals). Young Frankenstein (touring in March 2011) is next.
