Hofsess is the co-founder and director of Women Centered Art Co-op. After pursuing an M.A. degree in art and art education from Columbia University, where her research interest was community-based arts and the place where art and activism intersect, she returned to Charlotte, N.C. Here she continues to make and exhibit paper/book arts and photography, in addition to her community work and teaching practice.
She is an adjunct faculty member at Winthrop and has been invited to teach at many places in the community, including Lark & Key Gallery and The Light Factory Contemporary Museum of Photography and Film. In addition, she has received three full and one partial scholarship to Penland School of Crafts, where she has continued her personal artistic growth through engaging in rigorous studio courses in papermaking, book arts, and clay.
