From the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Dr. Briggs teaches core counseling courses, practicum, internship, community counseling, counseling children & adolescents, psychopathology, and diagnosis and treatment planning. She is a National Certified Counselor (NCC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in North Carolina, a professional member of the American Counseling Association and several ACA divisions, and President of South Carolina Counseling Association.  Her clinical and research focus is on empathy development in the helping relationship from a diversity perspective.  Counseling experience includes loss and grief, and working with multicultural populations in both community and school settings.

Married, husband, Mike Briggs Children: Mike Jr., wife Susan, son Michael Brandon Mark, wife Lori, sons: Jeff, Scott, Mark Stephanie, husband John, children: Jack, Nick, Sydney, & Kate.
