Networking

You have probably met a lot of new people since coming to Winthrop, and we want you to continue to meet people along the way! Networking does not sound as scary when you think of it as meeting new people, right?

Networking is the #1 way to find a job – this includes part-time, internships, and full-time opportunities. With a few tips and tricks, you will be ready to start networking professionally. Check out our Networking Guide (pdf – 199 kb) for more information.

Informational Interviews

Informational interviews are a great way to start networking – even as a freshman. It is your chance to meet with professionals who are currently in a career field that is interesting to you. It is not an interview for a job; you are simply asking questions such as:

  • What was your major in college?
  • How did you get the job you have today?
  • What advice would you have for me as a student who wants to eventually be in a role similar to yours?

For more information about Informational Interviews and how to set one up check out our Informational Interview Handout (pdf – 335 kb). You also can schedule a meeting with one of our CCE staff for assistance with finding a professional to interview.
