About Us
The requirement for the B.A. in French or Spanish is 30 semester hours above the elementary level. Required courses include classes in composition and conversation, one survey of literature class, and one culture/civilization class. In addition, two courses in another language are required.
Proficiency in language skills must be demonstrated before graduation by completing successfully the ACTFL oral proficiency interview and written proficiency test. For details of this requirement, see the statement in the current catalog.
Teacher certification programs are available in French and Spanish. A minor in French, German, or Spanish requires 18 semester hours above the elementary level.
The department sponsors study abroad programs on a rotating basis in countries such as Costa Rica, France, Germany, and Spain.
