Master of Social Work
Full Time Program
Field Instruction
Students in the Full-Time MSW Program are required to complete field internships during both years in the Program. Field I (generalist social work focus), taken during the second semester of year one, requires that the student intern 16 hours per week in a social work agency under the supervision of an approved MSW degreed field instructor. Field II and Field III (advanced practice focus) requires that the student intern 24 hours per week in a social work agency under the supervision of an approved MSW degreed field instructor.
Field internships are located within a 75 mile radius of the University. Requests for exceptions to this policy must be made in writing (with rationale for the request) to the Director of Field Education for consideration by the Field Committee.
