Joe B. Lanford Scholarship (pdf - 67.3kb)

The Lanford Scholarship will be awarded to a Political Science major interested in a career in City Management. The duration of the Scholarship is one semester.  The student will intern with the City of Rock Hill.

William J. Blough Undergraduate Essay Contest (pdf- 86.6 kb)

The essay contest is open to all Winthrop undergraduates, and only to them. Essays may be on any political science topic. Entries may be identical to papers that have been previously submitted in PLSC courses, modified versions of such papers, or essays written specifically for this competition.

Mary Jeanne Byrd Award for Political and Civic Engagement (pdf- 307 kb)

The Mary Jeanne Byrd Award for Political and Civic Engagement will be presented annually to an outstanding undergraduate student majoring in Political Science who, through her or his dedication and commitment to community service, activism, service learning, and/or volunteerism, has enhanced life in the Rock Hill or the greater-Charlotte metropolitan area.

Janice Chastain Houk Award for Undergraduate Research

The Janice Chastain Houk Award will be given annually in the spring to the student that writes the best piece of original research in the Political Science Capstone (PLSC 490) course each year.
