About the Department

Guided by faculty with extensive professional and academic experience, you’ll learn not only the “what” and “how” of mass communication, but also the “why.” You’ll also use the latest technology in our fully equipped classrooms and labs. And international experiences, internships, practica, professional networking, and portfolio development opportunities are also available to help you get the most out of your education.

Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC)

Winthrop is in an exclusive group of universities offering an IMC major with equal emphasis on communication and marketing. This enables IMC graduates to seek a wide range of careers across the marketing communication spectrum.

Mass Communication

The Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication prepares students for media careers through a new converged curriculum.  Students may select customized tracks based on their interest in various communication areas including (but not limited to) print/online journalism, broadcast production, media management, and mass communication.

Digital Mass Media Track 

Students enrolled in the interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science in digital information design can take a digital mass media concentration offered by the department, one of four area-specific options offered in the program.
