Ms. Wheeler received her master’s degree from the College of Social Work at the University of South Carolina. She earned her undergraduate degree in social work from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C. She has worked several years as a community social worker in urban and rural areas of North Carolina. In addition, Wheeler has experience as a program administrator working with federal and state grant-funded programs. She serves currently as the program coordinator for the Child Welfare Scholars Program in the Department of Social Work. In this role, she is responsible for the recruitment, selection and instruction of child welfare scholars. Wheeler is a native of Charlotte, N.C., active board member for the Children's Attention Home Charter School and is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority.
