Dr. Bickford earned her Master’s
in English from the University of Mississippi and her Ph.D. in 20th-century
American literature and literary theory from the University of South Carolina.
Her research interests include psychoanalytic theory and issues of race, class,
and gender in twentieth century American literature. She has taught courses in
American and African-American literature and poetry, world literature, literary
theory, and the literary merits of Harry Potter, along with a number of writing
courses. Dr. Bickford is also the Director of the Office of Nationally
Competitive Awards, where she helps Winthrop's best and brightest students find
and apply for prestigious awards, scholarships, and fellowships.
