A recent graduate of Winthrop, professor Pardhanani completed her master’s degree under the mentorship of Laura Glasscock, where the research focused on studying the molecular mechanisms involved in prostate cancer invasion and metastasis. After a brief stint at the North Carolina Research Campus at Kannapolis, N.C., where she worked at a lab that focused on cardiovascular studies using the zebrafish as a model. She returned to her alma mater to join Heather Evans-Anderson’s research group. The lab currently is focused on understanding how the hearts of sea squirts, which are marine-dwelling invertebrates, can repair damaged muscle cells of their hearts.
