Professor Martin is an adjunct instructor for the Department of Human Nutrition, where she has taught courses in "Introductory Nutrition" and "Community Nutrition." She has more than 30 years' experience as a dietitian and has held positions in research, clinical, and community nutrition at places such as the WIC Program, Presbyterian Cancer Center, and the University of California-Berkeley Nutrition Department. In addition to her Winthrop teaching duties, she works for Indian Health Service at the Catawba Indian Clinic in Rock Hill, S.C., as a nutritionist/diabetes educator. Besides being a registered dietitian, she also is a certified diabetes educator (CDE). Among her interests are community nutrition, low literacy populations, and improving nutrition through community gardens and other venues.
