At Winthrop, Ms. Aiken is the laboratory chemist/supervisor for the Winthrop Department of Chemistry, Physics and Geology. She also serves on the Safety Committee as well.
Many years ago, Aiken received a B.S. degree from Winthrop, then called Winthrop College. Since then, she has worked in the chemistry field at Celanese in both Rock Hill and Charlotte, N.C., and at a company named Cognis in Charlotte. Aiken has held positions such as lab analyst, ISO 9000 quality specialist, lead Auditor, laboratory trainer, safety representative for the Quality Control (QC) Lab, research and development technical specialist, QC chemist, and laboratory chemist/supervisor.
In the industry world, Aiken was recognized and rewarded for her performance and service as the Lead ISO Quality auditor in Texas for Celanese. This reward included having the best audit checklist for ISO 9002 internal audits, auditing, and safety, as well as excellent work ethics in the designated chemical lab. She has more than 25 years of experience in chemistry field.
Aiken and her husband are the proud parents of one daughter. On weekends, Aiken teaches women’s Bible study at her church and occasionally speaks at Faith Prison Ministry.
