Professor Ely's ninth book, a collection of short stories, came out in fall 2010. A 10th book, a novel, will appear in fall 2011. He is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship and a Rockefeller Fellowship to Bellagio, Italy. Ely has been an associate professor of English at Winthrop since 1989.
