Dr. Westover is an associate professor in biology at Winthrop. She received her doctorate in botany from Washington State University and completed post-doctoral fellowships at Duke University, University of California-Irvine, and the University of South Carolina prior to joining the faculty at Winthrop. Westover has taught courses in microbiology and bioinformatics. Her research interests focus on the evolution of biomedically important viruses such as hepatitis B, HIV, and influenza A.
