Dr. Sleigh is an associate professor in the Department of Psychology at Winthrop. She received her doctorate in developmental psychology from Virginia Tech and did her postdoctoral fellowship at Indiana University. She directed the Psychology Honors Program at George Mason University prior to joining the faculty at Winthrop in 2003. Sleigh regularly teaches "Research Methods," "Biopsychology," "Learning," and "The Human Experience," as well as special topics honors courses. Her research interests focus on neonatal development, and she is heavily involved in supporting undergraduate research. She currently serves as the Director of the College of Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Research Committee, the Psi Chi Southeastern Vice-President, and Associate Editor of the Journal of Psychological Inquiry.
Sleigh received the 2008 College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Advisor Award and the 2010 Psi Chi Regional Faculty Advisor Award. In 2011, she received the Southeastern Psychological Association Mentor Award, the Florence Denmark Psi Chi Faculty Award, and the Kinard Teaching Award. She has reviewed for and published in referred journals such as Teaching of Psychology, Developmental Psychobiology, and Journal of Comparative Psychology.
