Dr. DeRochi is an associate professor of English, specializing in restoration and 18th-century literature. His main research focus is in the field of 18th-century drama, and he is currently co-editing a book focusing on the life and works of Richard Brinsley Sheridan. DeRochi's other research interests include satire and the novel’s effect on drama in 18th-century England. He is a member of the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies and the SouthEastern American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies. Professor DeRochi's classes are always challenging, filled with energy and lively discussion (and an occasional digression or two).
Dr. DeRochi became Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences in August, 2011. He is very excited about this new role, in which he has the opportunity to work with colleagues from all CAS departments and programs to make the Winthrop learning experience even better for our students.
