Professor Hegel is an adjunct instructor in the Department of World Languages and Cultures at Winthrop. She received her B.S. in psychology at Bradley University and completed her M.S. in education at Illinois State University, specializing in behavioral and learning disabilities. She is a member of the Sigma Delta Phi Honor Society. Before joining Winthrop faculty, she was a special education teacher within the Chicago Public School and the Carrboro Public School systems. She also was a Spanish as a Second Language teacher in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg and Union County Public School systems. At present, Hegel teaches beginning and intermediate Spanish courses at Winthrop.
