Dr. Morrow is a professor and Chair of the Department of Social Work. She has over 20 years of experience in higher education and has served in a range of academic leadership roles at both the department and college levels.

Morrow teaches principally in the areas of clinical practice and leadership. She has taught a variety of social work courses including psychopathology, advanced practice, generalist practice, leadership, and human behavior in the social environment. Her teaching is augmented by her wealth of experience as a social work practitioner. Her practice background has been centered primarily in clinical social work, where she has worked in a variety of settings, including behavioral health, medical health, and long-term health care. She has worked in both in-patient and out-patient facilities and in both public and privately funded arenas. Morrow also was in private practice as a clinical social worker for many years. Her professional experience has also included leadership and administrative roles in a variety of practice and academic settings.

Morrow’s scholarship is focused in the areas of social work education, leadership, ethics, clinical practice, and social work with sexual minority populations. She has authored more than 30 scholarly articles and book chapters and made more than 70 professional presentations at the local, state, national, and international levels. She is also the lead editor of the textbook, Sexual Orientation and Gender Expression in Social Work Practice and co-editor of a casebook that accompanies the textbook.

Morrow is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of North Carolina. She is also a Licensed Independent Social Worker (Clinical Practice) in South Carolina. In addition, she holds the Academy of Certified Social Workers designation through the National Association of Social Workers. Morrow is a certified site visitor for the accreditation of social work programs by the Council on Social Work Education and she serves on numerous non-profit agency boards and advisory committees.
