Padmini Patwardhan is professor of mass communication teaching Integrated Marketing Communication, advertising, public relations, communication theory & research, and senior portfolio. Most of her classes are hands-on and offer project-based learning experiences. She joined the Winthrop faculty in 2005 and has extensive international experience prior to joining academia.

Author of numerous research articles and conference presentations, Padmini's research interests include leadership in communication management, account planning, industry issues in international advertising and public relations, and media effects. She has received multiple research grants and fellowships including funding from the Temerlin Advertising Institute, Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations, American Academy of Advertising, National Association of Broadcasters and Winthrop Research Council as well as conference paper awards at AEJMC, AJHA and NCA, among others. She is published in leading communication, advertising, public relations, and promotions journals.

Padmini is the 2011 Winthrop Scholar and a 2006 Visiting Professor Fellow of the Advertising Educational Foundation. She works closely with professional associations and has served on committees for the American Academy of Advertising and AEJMC's Ad Division. She is currently elected to the Ad Division EC for a three year term and is also elected 2016 AAA secretary and EC member. She serves on editorial boards for two major academic journals.

She is married to Hemant Patwardhan, associate professor of management and marketing at Winthrop. The couple has two children.
