Padmini Patwardhan is professor of mass communication and
IMC program coordinator at Winthrop. She joined the Winthrop faculty in 2005.
She has extensive professional experience as copywriter and creative consultant
prior to joining academia. She is the 2016 Distinguished Scholar for the
College of Arts & Sciences, 2011 Winthrop Scholar, and a 2006 Visiting
Professor Fellow of the Advertising Educational Foundation.
Padmini is widely published in leading journals in her
discipline. Her work has won many national conference awards (AEJMC, AJHA and
NCA, among others). Her research has been funded through several grants (e.g.
Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations, National Association of
Broadcasters, South Asian Journalists’ Association, Winthrop Research Council)
and research fellowships (Temerlin Advertising Institute, American Academy of
