Dr. Elizabeth Evans is an Assistant Professor in the Department of World Languages and Cultures, the Coordinator of Winthrop’s World Language Teacher Education Program, and a Winthrop Faculty in Residence at South Pointe High School in Rock Hill. She holds a Ph.D. in Foreign Language and ESL Education from the University of Iowa. She is a member of the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages, the American Educational Research Association, the American Association of Teachers of French and South Carolina Educators for the Practical Use of Research. At Winthrop, Dr. Evans teaches Elementary and Intermediate French and Methods of Foreign Language Teaching, and serves as the university supervisor for world language teacher education students.

Dr. Evans’s research interests include foreign language classroom management, teacher education and development, online teaching and learning communities, and alternative assessment. In addition to her research and teaching, Dr. Evans is extensively involved in service to the field of foreign language teaching and learning, including work with the Advanced Placement French Language and Culture exam and developing professional development opportunities for foreign language teachers around the state of South Carolina.
