Dr. Cagle has worked in services for persons living with HIV/AIDS as an educator, case manager, and administrator; in child welfare as a foster care worker; and in community mental health as a therapist working with adolescents and their families. He maintains licensure to practice clinical social work in South Carolina and in North Carolina. Cagle's teaching is currently centered on social work practice with individuals, families, and groups; human behavior in the social environment; and empowerment practice. For several years he has also taught the MSW Capstone course. Cagle's scholarship focus includes understanding young people’s experiences and needs in various contexts, and exploring the philosophical roots and continuing evolution of social work.
