Dr. Hancock
completed her undergraduate degree and became a classroom teacher in the
Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools in 1971. After teaching middle and high school
mathematics for 20 years, she returned to school to earn a Ph.D. in mathematics
education from the University of Georgia. Since then, she has worked at the
college level with both pre-service and in-service mathematics teachers.
A native of Gastonia, N.C., Hancock now lives in York County. She teaches
part-time at Winthrop and spends her free time traveling around the country in
her camper with her dog, Bertie.
