About African American Studies (AAMS)

The African American Studies program is an interdisciplinary program that provides students with an intellectual basis for understanding the Black experience. Begun in 1992, the African American Studies minor has attracted students from academic majors such as History, English, Political Science, Art History, Business, Sociology, or Education. Students in almost any major can benefit from a comprehensive study and understanding of a diverse world population.
