College of Arts and
Sciences Scholarships

University.
Biology majors may be
eligible for a number of scholarships offered by the College of Arts
and Sciences (CAS). Scholarship awards are given on the basis
of scholarship, character, leadership, service, and need. All CAS scholarships require a minimum GPA
of 3.0. Some are limited by geographical constraints (for
example, Cherokee County resident) or are intended for students with
particular career interests or minors (for example, gerontology
minor). Other scholarships are designed for students who have
demonstrated truly exceptional academic performance; to be
competitive for these awards, a GPA above 3.5 is usually necessary
and should be based on several semesters of work at Winthrop
University. Explore
below the various scholarships in these three categories. Read
the descriptions carefully, as some scholarships specify financial
need and others do not. You must submit a separate application
for each scholarship. The application form is the same for all
scholarships and can be obtained by going to Student Services of CAS
at 106 Kinard or on-line at:
http://www.winthrop.edu/artscience/studentservices/scholarships.htm.
Completed applications for 2008 awards must be
submitted to Student Services of the College of Arts and Sciences at 106 Kinard by,
4:00pm on Friday, February 8, 2008.
