Effiong Named To Big South All-Academic Team For Second Straight Year |
ROANOKE, VA--Eyo Effiong was named to the Big South Conference All-Academic Team for the second consecutive year after achieving a 3.56 grade point average for the last two semesters. The 6-9 native of Lagos, Nigeria, was one of seven players in the conference voted to the team by the league's sports information directors.
Effiong averaged 5.0 points and 3.6 rebounds during the regular season after overcoming a back injury that forced him to miss 11 games. He had been a two-year starter until a herniated disc suffered during the preseason finally forced him out of the lineup in December.
He is a computer science major and has been named to the Winthrop Dean's List for two semesters and is a two-time Big South Conference Presidential Scholar for maintaining at least a 3.0 or higher GPA.
