Deadline Extended!!! Hurricane Studies REU: Get paid to conduct interdisciplinary research at the
University of South Florida! Students will collaborate with
faculty mentors on a research project, will attend a seminar on
Hurricane Research Methods, will study the social dynamics of
hurricane vulnerability, and will participate in ethics and
diversity training. Students will also receive a $3,600
stipend, travel reimbursement, and many other benefits.
Undergraduate students from any major may apply.

Donald Danforth
Plant Science Center Internsip in Plant Biology Research:
The Danforth Center in St. Louis, MO provides a summer research
internship program for undergraduate students. Students
conduct research in biotechnology, as well as learning about the
political and economical considerations affecting 21st century
science and research. A stipend of $5400 is provided, and
housing is available for those who live outside of the St. Louis
area.

Genetics and
Biochemistry REU: The
Department of Genetics & Biochemistry at Clemson University will
offer a residential 10-week Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)
program for twelve upper-level undergraduate students. Students will
be trained on how to apply the scientific process to relevant
scientific problems at both the intellectual and practical levels.
Participants, recruited nationally, will include those with a
background in any of the disciplines considered to be “life
sciences”: genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, microbiology, etc.
and will be matched with ongoing research projects that best fit
their interests and academic background. Student receive a
$4000 stipend, housing, and a $1000 meal allowance! Students
from institutions with limited research opportunities, women and
minorities under-represented in science fields are particularly
encouraged to apply.

Institute of
Ecosystem Studies REU:
Now entering its 21st year,
the Institute of Ecosystem Studies' Research Experiences for
Undergraduates (REU) program provides 10 students an opportunity to
conduct quality research in ecology at a well-established research
institute. Students receive a stipend of $4,800 for their
participation in the program, which runs for 12-weeks from the end
of May to late August, IES provides housing for students for the
entire summer plus a food allowance of $600.

Medical College of
Georgia STAR Program: This is a paid opportunity
for students interested in biomedical research to spend their
summers doing paid research at the Medical College of Georgia.
Students will spend 9 weeks researching in an area of research of
their choice,as well as attending workshops and interacting with
other student with similar interests. They will receive a
$4000 stipend, but must pay for their own housing.

INFORMS is inviting papers on topics in the following areas:
Accounting, Finance and Economics, Educational Innovation and
Educational Practice, Information Technology, Expert Systems,
Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support Systems, Management,
Strategy, and International Issues, Marketing and Logistics,
Production and Operations Management, Public Sector Social and
Ethical Issues, Quantitative Theory and Methods, and Sports and
Recreation. Students will present their papers at the 2007
Annual Meeting.

13th Annual
Southeast Regional Technology Transfer Conference: The
Research Foundation Committee of the South Carolina Section of the
American Water Works Association is soliciting student poster
presentations for the Technology Transfer Conference, held January
25th and 26th, 2007 at the Hyatt regency in Greenville, SC.
The program will cover practical applications of current research on
issues relevant to the drinking water industry; students should
focus their research papers appropriately. Interested students
should submit a one page abstract detailing their research project
to the following address: Rachel D. Crosby, AWWA--Research
Foundation Committee Member, Orangeburg Department of Public
Utilities, P.O. Box 1057, Orangeburg, SC. 29115. Applicants
will be notified of the Review Committee's decision by December 14,
2006.

Universities Internships:
The Oak Ridge
Associated Universities (ORAU) Internship Program provides
opportunities for qualified undergraduate and first year graduate
students to receive hands-on experience in a real-world setting that
prepares them to become part of tomorrow's workforce. ORAU
provides internships in the disciplines of engineering, computer
science, health physics, meteorology, chemistry, physics, biological
sciences, environmental sciences, emergency management, public
health, epidemiology, accounting, finance, audit, communications,
graphic design, human resources, and instructional technology.
Lasts approximately ten weeks during a summer term. Available
only to U.S. citizens.
