Message from the Executive Director

August 2017

Tuttle, Lori

Dear Alumni and Friends:

Human Nutrition 100th Anniversary: In celebration of 100 years of food, nutrition, dietetics and dietetic education, Winthrop is sponsoring a statewide student research symposium and centennial celebration on Wednesday, Sept. 6, in Richardson Ballroom. The event will begin with the statewide student research symposium from 4-6 p.m., followed by a reception and dinner at 6 p.m. The guest speaker at the dinner will be Lucille Beseler, past president of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. All human nutrition alumni will be invited, so save the date! For more information, email Wanda Koszewski, associate professor and chair of the Department of Human Nutrition

Homecoming & Reunion Weekend 2017: Save the date for Homecoming & Reunion Weekend Nov. 17-18, 2017! Alumni Relations is inviting alumni authors to participate in our inaugural alumni author showcase on Friday, Nov. 17, during Homecoming on campus. Whether you have written fiction, non-fiction, poetry or children’s books, we look forward to your participation! Participants in the alumni author showcase will have the opportunity to visit Winthrop and sign books for current students, faculty/staff and fellow alumni. The alumni author showcase will be held during the inaugural Homecoming on the Green event, which will be a family-friendly event to kick off Homecoming & Reunion Weekend with music, food and activities. Interested in participating? Email Tuttle by Friday, Sept. 15.

Scholars Walk: This past summer, the Office of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving numbered brick pods on Scholars Walk. Now your brick will be much easier to locate! With large, engraved numbering at the top of each pod, locating your Scholars Walk brick will be easier than ever before. We hope to see you on campus soon to visit your brick. To purchase a brick for you or a loved one, please visit www.winthrop.edu/brick and leave your lasting impression on campus today.

Savannah Alumni Reception: Join fellow Winthrop alumni in the Savannah, Georgia, area for a special reception Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. at Soho South Cafe, 12 W. Liberty St. in Savannah. Network with alumni and get updates about Winthrop from Jack DeRochi, dean of The Graduate School, Ken Halpin, director of Winthrop Athletics and Eduardo Prieto, vice president for Access and Enrollment Management. Admission is free; register online today. E-mail alumni@winthrop.edu or call 803/323-2145 for more information.
