Mat Stanley

Hello and welcome to Winthrop ! My name is Mat Stanley, and I joined the Admissions Team at Winthrop in the fall of 2011. I grew up in Rock Hill, SC, and was immersed in life at Winthrop at an early age. I constantly attended Winthrop sporting events, concerts, plays, and art gallery openings.

I attended Guilford College in Greensboro, NC, where I majored in Sports Management and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 2009. While at Guilford, I played on the basketball team and interned at the Atlantic Coast Conference. After graduation, I was involved with the Admissions Staff where I learned the importance of understanding a prospective student's needs.

In joining Winthrop's staff, I was thrilled to be a part of such a quality institution that offers a rigorous Liberal Arts education. Winthrop offers numerous degree programs with many different options to explore them. Class sizes are small and professors provide individual attention to meet each of their students' needs. Even with classes being small, Winthrop still offers a variety of clubs and organizations where every student can find something that interests them.

Deciding on the right school can be overwhelming at times. I personally know how hard the decision can be. It's important to identify what your individual needs are in a college when going through the decision making process. Exploring many different options is the best way to find out what college is the right fit for you. Hopefully Winthrop will be the fit right for you!
