Summer Office Hours

Winthrop University will observe a modified work schedule from June 1 - August 7. Most campus offices will be open from 8 am to 5:30 pm on Mondays - Thursdays, and 8 am to 11:30 pm on Fridays. The Office of Admissions will be open until 5 pm on Fridays.

Weekday Campus Visit 

Weekday campus visits provide an opportunity to interact with Winthrop students, faculty and staff.  We encourage you to take time to truly experience Winthrop, so you should plan to spend at least two hours participating in our campus program. We hope that during your visit you will have the opportunity to get to know the admissions staff and Winthrop, and we look forward to getting to know you, as well.

All weekday campus visits include a student-guided tour and an information session with an admissions counselor.  We will also be happy to schedule a classroom visit or meetings with a professor or coach with advanced notice.

We encourage you to prepare for your Winthrop Experience by

• scheduling your visit a week or more in advance
• reviewing our website for more information
• preparing questions to ask admissions staff and current students
• bringing a camera to document your time at Winthrop
• planning some extra time on campus to eat lunch (as our guest) or to participate in one of our many activities or events.

Preview Days

Winthrop hosts four Saturday Preview Days throughout the academic year. Preview Days provide an in-depth view of academic and campus life at Winthrop. Faculty, staff and students are available from our academic and student life areas to tell you more about Winthrop and to answer your questions. The schedule also includes a student-guided tour of the campus. 

Group Visits

For groups of six or more students, Winthrop invites you to schedule a group visit. Please call the Office of Admissions at 803-323-3291 or 800-WINTHROP (946-8476) to speak with a Campus Visit Representative to schedule your Winthrop Experience. We will be happy to tailor your visit according to the age level of your interested students. Please review our Campus Visit Expectations before your scheduled visit.

First Look Fridays

First Look Fridays provides a glimpse into the life of a Winthrop Student. The visit includes a tour of campus, lunch in the cafeteria, and sitting in on a class. Students also have opportunities to speak with current students, faculty, and their personal admissions counselor to learn more about the Winthrop experience.  Click here for additional information.
