Hi! My name is Tracy Hudson, and I received both a B.A. (1999) and an M.A.
(2001) in English at Winthrop University. Because I get to help nontraditional
students realize their educational goals, working with New
Start and transfer students in the Office of Admissions is a very rewarding experience for me.
Assisting nontraditional students with the admissions process is a big part of my job. When adults come to college, sometimes after a long absence, they are unsure what to expect. Showing adult students that there’s a place for them at Winthrop, and working with them to help them get started, helps me give back some of what I found at Winthrop.
Because I was a nontraditional student, I understand the different goals of adult learners. When I came to Winthrop in 1997, it made me feel welcome to find there was an office devoted to providing assistance to nontraditional students. In the New Start
Program, I found staff who understood the kinds of obstacles adult students can experience and who provided valuable information when I needed it. I’m delighted to be able to carry on that tradition.
If you are considering starting a college education or continuing one after a long absence, I encourage you to come visit me. We want to help you get a New Start on your education!
Please call me at (803) 323-2106 or e-mail me at hudsont@winthrop.edu if you have any questions.
