Winthrop Results

Winthrop’s results for first year students and/or seniors significantly exceeded those of our selected national peers on the majority of NSSE items, with many differences being fairly substantial. Winthrop first year students and seniors exceeded their national peers to the greatest extent on the following items

While Winthrop significantly exceeded its peers on most NSSE items, it exceeded peers to the greatest extent on the following items: 

First Year Students

  • Participated in a community-based project as part of a regular course
  • Attending campus events and activities
  • (The institution) encouraged contact among students from different economic, social, and racial or ethnic backgrounds
  • Community service or volunteer work
  • Attended an art exhibit, gallery, play, dance, or other theatre performance
  • Used e-mail to communicate with an instructor
  • Included diverse perspectives (different races, religions, genders, political beliefs, etc.) in class discussions or writing assignments
  • Contributing to the welfare of your community
  • (Your experience at the institution contributed to) understanding yourself
  • (Your experience at the institution contributed to) understanding people of different racial and ethnic backgrounds
  • Had serious conversations with students of a different race or ethnicity than your own
  • Participated in activities to enhance your spirituality

Seniors

  • Attended an art exhibit, gallery, play, dance, or other theatre performance
